I'm using news 1.3 and want to achieve something. In the main page i want to display a cutsom block, that show the 4 latest news ( something like the XOOPS home page), but i don't want to set the 'news' default module for my start page (in the preferences). The 'Recent news' block does not do the job for me, cos it displays only the news titles, not 'the Scoop' (as it were when I set the 'news' module to be default for the home page). Any suggestions ?

With the recent news block of the news module, use the teaser parameter, it will do what you want and you don't need to put the module as your module's homepage.
