Because he thinks that editing templates and themes will be easier in WYSIWG.

Yes, there is an extension for displaying smarty-tags. The extension makes little yellow icons instead. But even this extension does not help, since smarty brings its own logic into the html-code and breaks the WYSIWYG-view.

My advice for monster: Stick to a nice plain HTML-editor and document your code.

i agree.. it's more a hinderence than help..

i use dreamweaver myself, but i always use it in code view, don't think i've used the wysiwyg part since i started using xoops..
