news post in middle of page?

i must be missing something big time. with the news module am i able to post things to the middle of the page...like on the news page.

i can post little blocks with the titles of the news bits but i want the full post on the front page...

It sounds like you want your news stories on the front page.

Go into,
system admin > preferences > general settings

Look for these words,
(Module for your start page) Set the combo box to news.

The only problem with this is your start page will look like this.
http://www.yoursite.org/modules/news/

If you install the (shorturl's) hack then your news will display on the front page at this url.
http://www.yoursite.org

The problem I had with the "system admin > preferences > general settings" was that the news headlines all ended up below all the blocks I have on my front page. I guess I need to root around for the code that the news page used to display and make a block with that. Maybe someone has already done this?
