Error: Unable to write to main menu

When I install a new module. There is an error occur that Unable to write to main menu. How do I do to fix that problem. Thanks for your help.

i once had that problem while using norton internet security´s firewall. i configured it to allow the referrer for my site and it was gone. maybe that´s the problem?

Oh ! I don't thinks so. Because I have installed the same module on the two different hosts. 1 has error, but the other hasn't.

This error occurs when I transfer all the data files of XOOPS system to one host to another host. So would you please show me how do I do to solve that problem ??

I knew the answer.
Try to
chmod 777 cache
But I think you have not changed your templates_c & uploads this 2 floder's permission to 777(rwxrwxrwx).

I've done it before I had recieved your answer. But the problem still occur... I really don't know why.

I'm getting this error too when I try to upgrade the News 1.3 module. I've tried all of these solutions but I still get the error.

in addition to having the /cache folder set to 777 permissions, any files inside it must also be writable, in this instance, the file needed is adminmenu.php. Make sure that this file has 666 permissions.

Thanks so much! That was it. It appears that the files/folders automatically go back to their 644 and 755 settings, eh? I didn't know that -- interesting.
