Help me understand the News Module! please...

Hello Everyone!

Sorry if this post is elementary.
I'm trying to publish multiple article blocks on my home page like everyone else!
All I can manage to do is create blocks with links to the articles, yet not any of the article.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks for the help!
I read the docs and have abetter understanding, but how do I make the news look like yours?

I need to have a set # of article "teasor" blocks with a "read more" link.

Here is my current development site: (please excuse the work in progress)

I would love to make the news look like this:

Xoops.org uses the Spotlight module. You will find it in the module repository.
