Maybe im looking over an option here, but i only want memebers of a group i created (and webmasters of course) to be able to post news, as i dont want every random person who registers on the site to be able to post news articles. is there an easy way to do this?

AFAIS - you can't assign only one group as approved (I use default News, in 1.21 it can be changed) for posting news.
But you can disable anonimous posting and "auto-approve" - after it you'll approve only these news, which you want to see on site and discard all other
