wf downloads, header error, probably output before download print

When I got to download a file with wf downloads on my site it displays the wf downloads logo (in my case just "downloads") and prints "header already sent". now I have wrote scripts like this in the past where you output data and tell the browser in the header that it is a download. Why isn't wf download coded correctly? Is it just my version or is it something that needs fixed. It works on xoops.org so...
