Is there a way that I can leave "auto-approval of news stories" turned OFF, but have the system automatically approve any story posted by an Admin, via the "Submit News" link on the news page? Or is it necessary to have an admin approve admin-submitted news?

I'd love it if anyone knows of a work-around that can allow ONLY admins to post news and not users, but have the system not require the admin approval of the story before publish.

You shouldn't have to approve your own posts if you post them from the administration interface:

http://www.yoursite.com/modules/news/admin/index.php?op=newarticle

Yes you are correct. It would still be nice if there was a way to do it from the main News page itself though.
