I plan to set up a directory site, with a list of all the cafes in my area.I want it to work like this, from a pull down menu you select your cuisine type, then you type in your area,( with a checkbox if you want to search surrounding areas)then you press go.
It then comes up with a list of links of all the cafes in your area which suit this criteria. by clicking on the link it opens a page showing the places opening hours, contact details etc. would XOOPS be able to handle this type of search engine function?

xoops will do it, but u have to understand that XOOPS itself is module based..

basically if you want it to do specific things then u need a module that can do what u want..

i haven't seen anything exactly for what u are asking, but i believe there are a few modules that could be modified to suit your needs..

modules such as xdirectory, addresses 1.7, yellow pages etc.. they may do what u require as is, or if not i think they maybe able to be modified to suit ur needs..
