how to set up the default notify setting to email?

Hi all

All the new users at my site enter with a default notification setting of Private message, this is causing trouble since they aren't getting notifications via email.

Is there a way to set up that any new user has a default notification setting of email, unless they change it?

you can tell your users to change notifications method to email in their profile. hope that can help...

I was afraid someone would say that, because the users usually leave their settings unchanged when registering, so they don't know of new posts on their threads,

I have been changing this for each new user, but it is getting out of hand,
