I would like to see the dropdown menu Preview/Save at the bottom of the form used for typing articles, being replaced with two buttons labeled "Preview" and "Publish"

It is far to easy to loose all the good work writing an article, if you hit Submit while the dropdown selection is Preview, and then rush to the home page to see what it looks like. Your article isn't saved anywhere, and all you can do is to start all over again. Very frustrating indeed! For the same reason there should also be a warning that if the article hadn't been saved prior to exiting the form, it would be lost.

You can still save the article after hitting the Submit button while dropdown selection is Preview.
You will see the button "save" right at the end of the preview screen.
You can save it from there after previewing it.

Please consider the following scenario:

You have been admitted privileges to publish news articles to a site where the content is produced in collaboration with others. Your task is to produce news stories, others deal with running the technical and visual aspects of the site.

So you log on, write your story, and when done, hit the Submit button below the form. Then you click the Log out link in the upper right corner, expecting to be sent to the home page, where you can see what the story looks like.

Unfortunately you did not notice that the dropdown menu selection was "Preview" and not "Save". So at first you get real surprised over not being able to find your fresh article on the news page. Then comes the real frustrating part, when you realize that the only way it can be restored, is to write the entire story all over again.

It is easy to lose work, and a quick reminder that the article would be lost if not saved properly before exiting the form, should not be very hard to implement.
