I don't know if one such module is already available, I could not find one in the Module Repository.

It would be great to put a module on our site, where I could register names and birthdays. On their birthdays it should display a greetings message.

Do anyone have knowledge of one such module? Although its simplicity, unfortuneately I do not have the programming skills to create one myself.

Replacing the news module

This question was originally posted in the "Beginner's Corner" forum, but since I got no replies there I'll hope someone here is able to answer it.

I would like to replace the standard news module with the altern8news module, and wonder if it's straightforward to install it in the modules/news folder (and not the modules/altern8news), since many themes expect to find the news-module here?

Not a very Xoops-specific question this time, but anyway: Is access to post comments to articles and topics in discussion forums, in general a great enough incentive for most visitors for letting themselves get registered, or do a large (major?) part of the users prefer to stay unregistered on most sites?

What do you believe is the best policy: To keep as much fuctionality of the site available for registered users only in order to motivate visitors to register, or will such an approach make the site uninteresting and unattractive, causing less traffic?

The Liase-module was just what I needed! Thank you very much for your excellent advice!

Sorry, I referred to the Bluemoon.Multi-EntryForm-module. Now I'll look at the Liaise-module. Please ignore these last two postings of mine.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate all help I can get.

Hmm - have you tried that module?

Among some English text, there is a lot of not-so-easily understandible text, such as " ¥Õ¥¡¥¤¥ë¥Í¡¼¥à ¤³¤Î¥¢¥ó¥±¡¼¥È¤Î¥Õ¥¡¥¤¥ë¥Í¡¼¥à¡£". Is something wrong with my setup, or is it supposed to look like this?

Anyway, the module is >800K big, and consist of hundreds of files. IMO an overwhelming solution to such a simple problem.

I have read some postings concerning line breaks within <table> .. </table> -tags, which is being inserted above the tables, where the solution is to write the declaration in one singel line. Sure this makes the article look good, but also makes it very hard to update cell contents later on. From what I understand is this not considered a bug. I would say it is wrong to treat text as WYSIWYG when HTML-tags is allowed to be inserted.

Now I am able to write tables, but without being able to set borders and width (and presumable lots of other design options).

If you plan to use images, you're supposed to use the far simpler "[IMG]"-tag which leaves you with two options only - align it to left or right. The html counterpart <img> - only produce a link to the image file. Why is this? I would like a border one pixel thick around my images, how do I accomplish this?

Is there a list of tags in brackets (like [IMG] and [pagebreak]) for use in articles available? I have not been able to find any yet.

I want to create a form in a page, where the users may enter some data and then send it to webmaster's email account. I have noticed that XOOPS already can send emails on special occasions, so I wonder if this functionality is easily accessible for use in forms?
