I find it quite revolting that anyone would strip XOOPS trademark from their source code on a XOOPS site. Not putting any reference up front is ok, but blantly stripping the code and claiming it as his own creation is quite disgusting.

How do you know it's not in his source code, as this shouldn't be viewable by users?

Actually Tom, they are not. If you look inside any module or .php source in the XOOPS code with an editor, and then view those pages online as they are supposed to be rendered, none of the commenting is viewable, even with using 'view source'.

The nature of comments in .php is quite different then comments in html. This allows developers to insert their own fixes, questions, concerns or notes directly into the code amongst other valuable reasons. The comenting system in php is vastly superior. Only html code is parsed, while php executes it's designed functions in order to display the code in hyper text.

Your concern is admirable renbot, if not a little misplaced. Even if you view the source here on xoops, you will see the same results. An oversight that can be easily made by anyone, so your confusion is understandable

What exactly has been stripped only thing I notice is that there is no mention of XOOPS what so ever on the site not even a logo or banner......... but you shouldn’t be viewing anyone’s core files or anything like that!! I get the impression that you come across as a SNOOP and like viewing others website files. Where exactly does he say that XOOPS he created?

What a jerk.

I am sorry for the insult, but anyone who goes out of his way to critcize someone else for doing NOTHING WRONG is a jerk... or maybe just an idiot.

There is NOTHING WRONG with the above mentioned site. No copyright problems.

No, PHP comments should not be visible to the visitors. Please learn about what your are talking about before you insult others. I do not mind people who do not know about tech stuff, just don't come in with both guns blazing.

JMass

PS - If the owner of the site enabled the banner just because of this thread, take them off. It would look much better without.

You are right with the person who started this topic. One just has to take a look at the source code of a page, where it clearly states
Quote:

<meta name="generator" content="XOOPS" />
.

The author of the site has changed to
Quote:

<meta name="author" content="www.pemartin.com" />

which I consider justified, as the people from pematin have set up the site, and definetly have cleaned up the code of the theme (I checked). Besides, the meta-tag author is meant for the person who created a page, and not a backend system.

Maybe someone doesn't like the creators of the page, and is probably nothing but a marketing jerk, that believes they can enrage a community of smart people, by posting unfound statements.

To bad (for that person) people here verify statements
