mouse cursor

I am trying to change the mouse cursor. I have read in previous threads how to do it but in them they say that you have to save the image you want as the cursor as .cur.
How do you do this? Do you have to have a particular programme. I can only save images as .jpg or .gif.

Put this
A {
cursor: crosshair;
}

into your style sheets, it reacts on weblinks. Better set it into the BODY tag so it always show up. Crooshair is one option, pointer, text, wait and help are other values you can use, like:
A {
cursor: wait;
}
