First of all,i don't want to start a flame but only
report my thoughts and make a reflection.
I'm using XOOPS since jan,2003 and i really love it
and i use it to build my sites.
But i have to say that XOOPS is running throu its worst period.
In the last months very few modules have been released and the core development has been running very slowly, releasing only bugfixes and maintenance versions.
I'm really sad about this 'cause i've seen many other CMS (phpnuke, mambo, etc) have been actively
developed and took many steps forward.
You may say that XOOPS is the most secure among all;i agree with that.
But "less developed" doesn't mean "more secure",IMHO.
At last i'd like to suggest the core devs to boost up the core development,
by adding at least some new useful features (they are too many to be mentioned)
and publish a new fashionable release in the very next future.
Or else many people will switch to other CMS' pooring this amazing community.
ATB,ralf.

There is actually a fair bit going on, but most of the development stuff now goes on at the development site, maybe check it out, there are a few bits and pieces around about the upcoming 2.1 (and beyond) that sound quite promising. XOOPS is still fairly young so it doesn't have the same user/developer base as some of the older CMS, but the good news is that it is growing rapidly and as many people will tell you the quality of work is quite high.

To speed up the process (you should have known this was coming :) you can get involved, there are many opportunities to contribute depending on your skills - modules, themes, testing stuff for people or just writing docs. Help us !

:)
