hi,

How to hide a category and its forums for a short period of time. I dont want to delete a category and its forums, just want to hide / disable them. Making them private is not the right solution. other that that is there any way ??

~*Edited the topic heading from newbb questions to newbb2 questions as there has been some good discusion about newbb2 done in here.

Ok I just installed the newbb beta 3 on my test site and things seem to be working pretty good thus far.

I have 2 questions...

First, in the forum index it shows that there are no new posts ect .... but I see no option to review the posts that i have already seen. Say I wanted to look over a past post or something. Is this an issue or have I made a mistake some place here.

Second ... ok you know when you set the privite forums up and you select whom has access and whom can post ect. What I am looking for is the oppisite. I want to be able to not allow certain users on certain forums. Basically all would have access untill a mod removes them from that forum.

Is this possible to work into beta 4?

Thanks in advance

Regards, Danni :)

1) You're at the URL ".../modules/newbb/" ?

2) The current way to do that in XOOPS is to create a new group such as "Restricted Users". Configure the access rights for Restricted Users. Move the desired users from the Registered Users group to the Restricted Users group.

Yes.

Well see I dont want to ban the users from the forum completely, I just want to limit where they may post.

Edit: Basically I want to be able to set restrictions on some users and only allow them to post in a certain forum rather than all forums.

You could set the access rights for Restricted Users so that they can post in some forums but not others.

K well I have a few different groups set up but when I go to edit a forum and select whom may post I only have 3 choices Members, Admin/Mods or anonymous. None of the other groups appear here.

Maybe im not understanding you
