Nothing wrong with the theme presentation and layout, it's clean, clear and the colour scheme is suited to the topic of the site.
Performance on the other hand is not so good. You site is around 440KB in size which is way too big, and will loose visitors. It took me just over 30 seconds to fully load your site over a E1 (2 Mbit ATM) here at work in Australia. General rule of thumb is visitors will move on from your site if the page takes more than 8 seconds to load. With a combination of throughput, latency and size, it could easily take a visitor on the other sde of the world a few minutes to doenload your site over a 56k connection.
Not all is lost though. You have huge gains to make through image optimisation. You have two images at or over over 100K, and of the 5 largest items on your site, 4 of them are images which account for almost half of your total site size (in just 4 images). You should also look at reducing your http request if you can as you have 37. This isn't bad, but it isn't good either as they'll introduce a significant (5 seconds or more) of lag time when loading your site.
Overall a very good effort, especially if you are new to the game.
