Hey All,
Im new to XOOPS and would like to say this is one of the
easiest site content manager to deal with !! Im so happy
I installed this instead of another manager.

Anyways heres my dilema...

I have uploaded a new theme to the theme directory and have
set it to the main theme of the site in admin>>general settings.

BUT: When i go to view the site it dosnt come up, only a white screen with nothing. I did manage to intsall another
theme for the time being but not the one I want the most.

Any help is appreciated - NOOB - szuccaro

is your site set to update:

Note: Remember to effect all changes you must go to Sytem Admin -> Preferences -> General Setting [edit] -> and set "update module template.html..." to yes and then select go at bottom of screen. This will update your site to effect all changes (remember to go back once settings have taken effect and set same to no and update once again).

So here's another one new to XOOPS with theme problems.

I installed Bassman's Light Blue theme and after selecting it as the default theme, I am now presented with a blank page. (http://www.odps.net)

I deleted the folder with the theme in it in the vain hope it would default to a different theme - but of course it didn't.

Any suggestions how I can get access to the site please??

Skyrider,

The admin section can be accessed directly. In your case use http://www.odps.net/xoops/html/admin.php then change your general preferences back to the default theme. I'm new myself, I ran into that snag earlier. Also, I noticed your path is a bit long. Normally, you would install the contents of the html folder in your web directory, not the whole folder. That will shorten your URL. You also don't need a XOOPS folder. You can install the contents of of the HTML release folder directly into your web folder at your ISP. It makes for easier troubleshooting when those URL's are shorter.

*tried that but it said 'access denied'... no idea why of course

Anything else I could try??

okay looks like thats not going to work either, so are you familiar with php myadmin? if so you can edit your table xoops_config -> edit theme_set and set it to "default" then save

Never heard of it but the alternative seems to be a reinstall which would throughly p*$$ of both me and the few users who've signed to the new site :)

I've gone to look at it and probably download it. Is there any way I can edit the file more easily tho - it looks quite painful to use? :)
