Mith:
Could you please take a look at the codes. Right now, it requires fine tuning in adding space manually between scoop and extended text. News modules is not handling the space properly. It usually would take me 2-3 times to get an acceptable spacing in between the two.
Thanks.

What is an "acceptable spacing"?

I cannot put in e.g. a 2-lines break between them because quite some times, the scoop and extended text do not have a clear border text-wise (some like to have the scoop stop in mid-paragraph to encourage the reader to "read more")

I usually put the whole first paragragh as scoop, then press "enter" two or three times to get the space I want. Then I would have to come back delete one or two linespace to make it look acceptable.

[edit] maybe an option to let users decide if they want spacing after the scoop? [/edit]

I would suggest in article.php:
keep $story['hometext'] and $story['bodytext'] instead of using a combined $story['text']

And it will be easy and logical to modify news_item.html.

if $story['hometext'] is just a part of first paragraph, you will still need to combine them together.

Another way of doing it is to simply get rid of hometext and use substr as an option. If you want to display the whole article in frontpage, just disable it.
