How do I have all main menu links like forums visible for all to see?

Go to Admin System->Groups->Anonymous and all ow anon visitors to see your blocks and modules from there.

This is your main permission system. You will need to go there to give people access to any new blocks you create, or any new modules (and accompanying blocks it has) once you have them installed.
