Hi all,

I know this should be really obvious, but I can't seem to unzip the .gz file. I'm using LAMP, have dl'ed the file and used gzip -d but it doesn't seem to uncompress the files. So what I have now is the dl'ed file (xoops-2.0.6.gz) and xoops-2.0.6.

I've created the db already. I feel very stupid. Would appreciate any help...

TIA,
Bob

Hello Bob and welcome to XOOPS forums

Why dont you download the zip version of XOOPS and use winzip to decompress the files? Winip is a free issue programme. Windows XP will also decompress zip files without any add on programme

I probably didn't explain my situation clearly. I'm trying to install XOOPS on a linux box, which I am remotely accessing, using Webmin. I do have winzip on my XP laptop, but that doesn't help me in unpacking a file on the linux box.

It seems like it's something really simple I'm missing. I've unzipped, tarred, etc., lots of packages for linux, but this one really has me stuck. I suppose I could winzip the whole thing on my xp box and ftp them all in to the linux box, but it really seems like a back-asswards way to do it!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob
