Perhaps this is my opinion only, though I believe others share it, but shouldn't a module like AgendaX which is fairly official and associated with XOOPS not include scripts which can be used to put pornographic pictures on a person's site? Yes, people can put them up if they want to, but I don't think those scripts should be included in the module.

I won't say for sure because I don't remember, but I thought official module policy was to not have content of that nature in it.

So what you're saying is nobody else cares, so I'd have to take it up with the developer?

Is this really true; are those photos placed covertly like they are using my hosting as a web server? How do I detect this?

No, the scripts are located in the agendax/scripts/ directory. If Implemented (which they aren't by default), then at least one if not several of the scripts put nasty pictures above your calendar, which they pull from ouside sources for fresh content. I personally don't think that stuff is necessary in a module distribution. Classy examples that aren't objectionable to the majority would make sense, but not the other material...

I don't say that I just don't care about it - but it is up to a module developer to put in his or her module, what he wants to put there, as long as it is not violating general laws.

So yes, this should be taken up with the developer wjue.

Mithrandir is correct in saying that AgendaX is not an official module. Official modules are those that come bundled with the full download of the XOOPS package. AgendaX is a 3rd party Module and is not considered part of the core of XOOPS.

AgendaX has instructions on how to change the images used, or at least offers a way to selct your own images. It's been a long time since I used the module, so you will have to check the documentation yourself because I don't remember much of it any more. You do not have to use the bundled images included with the module. Considering the images pornographic in nature is subjective. I remember no such offending imagery, although my view is also subjective.

Either remove the offending script,(if one exists) or contact the module developer. You could alter the code to display no images at all. The source is open and you can change it how you choose. Since all module source is shared in an open community, it's the community at large that will change it to their needs or contact the developer if larger problems persists. Another option is to not use the module and find an alternative. It's about choice.

XOOPS.org can not be held responsible for the content, code or misuse of any 3rd party module nor does XOOPS endorse questionable scripts contained within any 3rd party module.

Congrats on the recent Promotion Stewdio.

I understand now that AgendaX is NOT an official module; just a very popular one often used with xoops. I'm aware that the use of that material is very subjective. However, it seems to me the norm is to NOT put objectionable material into packages without notifying people of the content. This too is a matter of preference, and so yes, I've appealed to the author.

Half of this was just seeing if anyone else cared so that if the author wants to know if I'm the only one who objects, I'd know there are more people than just me.

Thanks Xantius.

I have no doubt that Wang will respond promptly to your inquiries. I'm sure others share your views and in general I do as well. I just needed to make an official and objective reply to your post, I'm sure you understand.

It was for the benefit of the community at large and not directed specifically at any one user or module developer. Many of us do care, myself included. I just wanted to keep the personal side of things out of my reply.

Cheers

:) The manager in you comes out in your political and tactful way of responding. I respect that and understand your reasoning.

I've come to realize in the open source world that for the most part, developers are very reasonable and understanding people, so I hope he'll be no different.

Now if only he could make a picture display of hot, sexy modded computers...
