I have just installed XOOPS and I know that I am a bit slow but how do I change the image in the top right corner. Is this done in themes?

You are absolutely correct. Go to the theme directory (the one you selceted in admin as your default) and open theme.html, the rest should be easy to figure out. It's just a few tables and images, edit the one where you want your logo.
