How to write a template that show all the recently news using news_item.html style

Hi all,

I want to write a template that can show all the recently
news for all topics in the top pages. Refer to news_index.html:

<{section name=i loop=$stories}>
<{include file="db:news_item.html" story=$stories[i]}>

<{/section}>

I think i can modify the codes. However , I have no idea that what should be changed... could somebody give me hints on it? I have tried to find document to talk about it... but nothing found..

hello benlau, ..

perhaps i don't understand correct... why not using news as startmodul in admin -> preferences ? It will show last news of all topics and you can set number of displayed news in admin .. Why to edit templates for this ?

In fact... i don't want to write that template. I just want to display the news in the frontpage. I have tried to ask how to do it in another forum... but no one reply. Therefore , I tried to write the template by myself..
