Hey guys. I just put up a XOOPS site hosted off a laptop i own and I'm not sure if it's how it's being hosted or the XOOPS site itself thats causing the problem. But 8/10 people aren't able to log onto the site. There attempts pretty much go like this:

Put in username and password. The next page is the thank you for logging in page then it will return to the page they tried to log into but the username and password boxes will still be there and not the user panel. Is there any rememdy for this?!

It's not XOOPS itself since most of us have been using XOOPS for a long time without experiencing your problem.

Can you check your user.php, userinfo.php and see if the filesize for them on your server is exactly the same filesize reported in your original XOOPS files. Sometimes a login failure could be that those files have been corrupted and didn't upload correctly.

This is most likely a firewall issue. These people are all running firewall software that is blocking the site's http headers. This means that XOOPS can't verify if a user has logged in on the site or not (it uses the cookie and http headers for that). Solution: make sure that the site is added to the trusted sites list, and/or configure the firewall software to allow http header info from and to cookies.

I agree that is a firewall issue - I myself use ZoneAlarm (freeware) and I sometimes got block (log-in failed)even I put my site to the tristed list - after I turned the firewall off everything back to normal. Some of my users have the same problem and I asked them to turn firewall off, it works then.
