Hello all. I understand that the majority of the look of the news module is defined through the CSS style of the item.xxx section.

However, what file(s) should I be looking at if I wanted to customize the look of the news module?

Basically, I would like to add images to the header and footer of news items in a manner similar to that of my left block.

Thanks

You can start by going in to admin>>templates. After you have cloned the default, you can then save changes you make. In your new copy of the template, go to the news templates and edit your files there to your likeing. Once you open them, you will see how things are currently laid out and then you can make new tables, rearrange things or what ever it is you would like to do.

Once completed, go to the system admin>>preferences and set your cloned template as the default in order to see your changes.

Hope this helps.

Actually, yes that was a great help. I found the files I needed.

While I am here, I thought I would ask two simple HTML questions.

I am trying to have one type of header image for my news info (which I have yet to work on, but I believe I know what to do).

Anyway, I am trying to combine this with one type of background for each news item. However, I have run into 2 minor snags.

1. Since the section that sits under the title consists of 3
tags (iteminfo, itembody, and itemfoot), there is always a space in between their respective backgrounds. Considering the nature of
tags (being that they are not inline like ), I can't see a way of erasing this space...

2. How can I set the background image that I am using to automatically stretch horizontally? If it was a part of a table, it would be an easy task. I could just set it to 100%. Any idea on how to do this?

Thanks

Can't you just take out the div tags and put the class in the td?

Plus can't you put the background in a table that wraps around the part you want the background to be in?

Your theme looks great btw!

Thanks for the reply! I actually ended up removing the
and tags, and converted it over to a table format, and it worked like a dream!

I can honestly say that the theme and template are coming along!

Thanks for your help, and your compliments!

It wouldn't be possible without XOOPS!
