Lykos Googled 0.1 - 04/12/03

This module displays the last listing in google of a certain search.
!!! The listing is provided by a third party website (http://www.googlealert.com), and you need to register there to get a listing.

----==== Requirement ====----

Xoops 2.05 or Greater
Account athttp://www.googlealert.com

----==== Installing ====----

1. If you not already have one, sign up for an account athttp://www.googlealert.com
2. Set up a search of your site title or url, and in feed settings, tick 'RSS Feed' and set the drop down to 'RSS 2.0'
3. Alter "modules/lykos_googled/cache/config.php" to the correct values for your "username" and "feed id" (either 1,2 or 3)
4. Upload the folder inside the zip to the XOOPS modules folder.
5. Login to your site as Admin, go Admin ->Modules, install Lykos Googled.

----==== Bugs/Features ====----

----==== Needed ====----

A neat X2 style logo. (Chapi?)
Language translations

----==== To Do ====----

Admin config instead of manual entry
Block displaying latest listing

In the somewhat distant future I shall be programming an interface to the google API, and then the Google Alert account will not be needed.

----==== Credits/Thanks ====----

The XMLDocument, RSS and all others in the XOOPS_ROOT_PATH."/modules/lykos_googled/include/activelink directory are written and provided by Active Link (http://www.active-link.com/intranet/software.php). They are licensed under GPL.

Download fromhttp://lykoszine.sourceforge.net (no registration needed). No example in action, cos my site is not running XOOPS 2.05 yet. If some kind soul wants to install it and provide a link to a working version that would be cool.

Serge,

The obvious question is does your host permit opening of remote files? If you get a blank screen with xoopsheadlines also, then this is likely the case.

(I meant to put a warning about this in the readme, but forgot.)

Serge,

The following questions:

1 - Have you check the feed on googlealert.com, to see if it is immediatly active?

2 - Did the install go ok? Ie, it created the template ok?

3 - Is the blank page a toally empty page, or a XOOPS frame with left blocks but no content?

Hmmm, strange

Can you enable PHP debug, and tell me what you get when accessing the module? If that gives nothing, try SMARTY debug.

Are you on icq/msn ?

Hi

On php Debug I get the following

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: ctype_alpha() in modules/lykos_googled/include/activelink/classes/org/active-link/xml/Tag.php on line 265
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: xoops_lblocks in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 626

I tried contacting yuo via MSN but tells me your not online

( EDITED BY SERGE ) Turns out I dont have ctype enabled on my system, problem was mine. I will recompile PHP at a later date and try this module again.

Cheers

Serge
