Hello. I am running XOOPS 2.0.5.1. I am using No-Ip.com to allow me to host this with a dynamic IP. My OS is Mac 10.3, using the built-in Apache server. My problem is that some themes work, and some don't. All the themes packaged with XOOPS work fine. Others that I have downloaded, such as fc_blue, fc_chrome, and iaols_ice also work. However, there are some themes that, when selected in the themes block, cause a totally blank page. All of the zaja themes do this, as well as some others. Does anybody know a way to get around this, or at least has any idea why this is?

My website is here.

Thanks for your replies.

Hi,

I don't have experience to the particular themes you're talking about, but I can only imagine that the bug lies with the theme and not with Xoops. I say this becuase if some themes work, and others don't the templating system seems to be intact.

I know when I create a theme myself, a small piece of misplaced PHP code, or a syntax error can result in a blank page, so maybe this is the case with the themes you've tried to import.

Also be sure that the theme's you're using are XOOPS 2 compatible, because if they were designed for 1.3 there are some fundamental differences that will cause issues.

Regards,
Gareth

Theme.html Must be in Directory

I have had ongoing problems just like this.

The fix is to make sure that theme.html is in the directory in the themes directory not a subdirectory.

Some themes when downloaded have a readme and another directory which contains theme.html it is this directory which must be under themes directory first.

Themes
--YourTheme
----Theme.html

I particularly want zaja_system to work (see this site). I have the zaja_system folder in the themes folder. Inside the zaja_system folder is the following:

Images (folder)
style.css
styleMAC.css
styleNN.css
theme.html

The "Images" folder contains a number of .gif images.
I have not modified this theme at all.
Thus, it would seem that the location of theme.html is not the problem. I am fairly sure that this theme is intended for XOOPS 2. The developer uses it on his website, and the footer says XOOPS 2.x.x.x.

Thanks for replying.

Is the zaja_system folder in the themes directory for the link you just gave us, because I got a 404 error when I tried to read your theme.html and check for errors.

Oops, stupid error-it's zaja-system, not zaja_system.

Thanks for the help.

Hmmm, it looks like it might just be a permissions error.

Try changing the permissions on the zaja-system folder to 777 and make sure you don't have a .htaccess file in there.

Gareth

I did chmod 777 on the folder, still dosen't work. There is no .htaccess in it.

Thanks

The permissions don't appear to have been changed properly.

If I try to directly access your theme.html file through my browser, I get a 403 forbidden error, which wouldn't happen if it was CHMOD 777

It seems that the file theme.html still had bad permissions. I did a chmod on it and everything in the zaja-system folder. It should work now.

Thanks again for the help.
