I'm a new at this.
I got it all install and working fine so now what?

Do I copy past code to a new html page and if so how?
Do I use some theme and if so how?

Is there a step by step on how I can use this info. and use and display it to the user.

I looked at the theme.html and I see nothing but code.
help.

What page does the user see? (index.php ???)
How do the user navigate to that page? etc.
When i add a module and try to view it I see nothing but files and folders.

For Instantance
i got the new module now how do i show it to the world.

ADDING SOME CONTENT
In System Admin | Preference, activate modules you may want to use, like News, Poll, etc.

For creating content, you have a couple options.
You can create a custom block (System Admin | Blocks)

or you can download and install additional modules.
For articles, you might want to try WFSections (very popular) or Tutorials (also highly thought of).

For creating pages quickly you might want to look at a "wrapper" module like TinyContent, WFChannel... or FreeContent and CJayContent.

SETTING PERMISSION
Now you decide which of your users can see which content by giving permission to various groups (System Admin | Groups).
The anonymous group will let people who haven't signed in see something. Registered users are people who have signed in. Webmaster is a group with special access rights to control the site. You can also create custom group and give special permissions. You could create an "Article Editor" group and give it special access to WFSections, for example.

POSITIONING BLOCKS
Now you can place your content by positioning blocks (System Admin | Blocks). You can control which column and pages various blocks appear on.

YOUR THEME
You can download themes and install them on your site. A good place to start. If you want to create your own theme, consult the wiki for additional details.

Thanks, I think I have a better understanding now.

However, when I click on [HOME](the Home page) I go to
http://localhost/xoops/html/ and I just see file and folders
I have to click onhttp://localhost/xoops/html/index.php
in that list to see something.

Is this right?

Yeah, you will probably want your web host (or maybe you are setting up a test server?) to set your configuartation file to make index your default file name. It will usually be done with piping, so that it can handle index.php | index.htm | index.html

Then, it will come up automatically when you go tohttp://yourwebsite.com/

because it will load the index file in that directory.
