as long as you don't remove any of the copyright information in the file headers (inside the php files themselves), you can remove and change whatever you want, without any special licence So, yes, you can edit the footer to whatever you want.

Are you saying that I can remove any viewable reference for XOOPS to the end user (the web page display and html source portion) as long as I have the copyright comments header of the php files remain intacted?

Thanks for the clarification?

That's what he is saying yes, however, I do not see a reason when you are happy about XOOPS having one litte link back to xoops, er even just the name...

I'm helping someone to work on their company website, and they don't want their competitors to copy their ideas of integration with xoops. This also gives the website a more professional look without external links.

I can understand removing the link from a commercial site - but they WILL be donating to the XOOPS project won't they?

I don't think donation will be an issue, after all, XOOPS is such a fine product.

Is there an amount for the donation, or it's up to the individual user to make the decision?

I believe you miss the whole payment point here. XOOPS is a free product for all to use, irrespective whether it is a commercial or non commercial company.

All the developers do this in their own free time and receive no payment and we do not expect any payment either.

Everyone has the right to remove any link back to XOOPS and can modify their site the way they wish to do so. But, as Herko stated, you must leave all information/comments within the php files themselves or you will be breaking that agreement.

We do not force anyone to contribute toward XOOPS money wise or in any other way (rumours are going about thou ) But you can if you want too and only if you want too.

Hope that clears this up
