Server load, required space, loading times - all are outside the scope (but nevertheless very interesting)

I may have gone a little overboard with the genesis talk in describing PHP-Nuke, but I just had to give a description of each CMS and that was what I could find.

I know PHP-Nuke is said to be based on something, but I do believe that it was a non-PHP system, so I am not entirely wrong.

Also, I wanted it to say that the PostNuke developers have AS goal to ... - but it may be a little too Danish wording.

more diagrams in your article would be a bonus :).
last summer I wrote an CMS overview article to local PC magazine.
would be glad, if some ideas can help:
though you don't understand Lithuanian, its easy to grasp the diagrams . (I could mail You the source of my 2-nd diagram in vector graphics if you like :). )
and, imho some stats about CMS dev (sf.net) and popularity (google PageRank) is quite a good general criteria.

anyway, good piece of work You've done.

Activity and popularity are both very interesting, but really outside the scope of the comparison.

The goal was to find the systems with the best features and compare them to XOOPS so I can build on top of it with adding features to XOOPS, which in turn will improve XOOPS as a product.

E.g. phpWebSite was above XOOPS in SF.net's activity stats for quite some time, but the system is not more attractive to me because of that. I personally don't think it is a capable system and hence it was left out.

I'll see if I can pop in a diagram or two. I also thought about some screenshots for clarification purposes, but I had a perception that I should remain below 30 pages in total (including analysis, design and implementation of a XOOPS feature), which has turned out not to be true, so I will probably do so.

ezpublish might be good to compare with the other CMS tools you named.

EZPublish has very strict server requirements and may not work on some shared hosting packages due to memory allocation limits. It's a good CMS, but not one I would recommend for John Q. Public. It's better suited to users who have a need for dedicated hosting.

I can't agree with it - it's CMS from another class. Totally another. More "developer-oriented", than "end-user".
It's not "*Nuke-style" block-based tool, but "...Try to grok it (hardly) before and build site from scratch after..."
It lacks also good docs (but you can buy book for 57 Euro).

Resume - it's good system (from some sides, which XOOPS lacks - real workflow, real versioning of documents), but not comparable with observed by Mith at all

You can believe and entrust me... and may not , but...
EzPublish works with my (default in memory settings) php.ini, I had to increase max script execution time above 30 seconds only (but for "first-run" only, when it must be compiled, and it was on my test-server with only 128M of RAM). No problem with complied site, even without recommended mbstring in PHP.

It's offtopic here, sure, but - eZ parthners offer ezPublish hostings, and my main reason contra eZPublish is: "You have to hire full time pure OO-PHP guru-developer, if you want to build and maintain own good site and a lot of time before site will be created and launched".
eZ is power system, but mainly for developer, not for customer (can't formulate the more precise assertion on the fly, but even in this form it's mostly true, if we'll forget about some details)

Thanks for the clarification. My host indicated that it was a memory restriction, your explination makes better sense given that my host allows for 40MB memory usage, but strictly limits CPU usage to 30 seconds.

Just a note that my project has been completed for months now - the discussion is interesting, but it's hardly worth it suggesting other CMS's to include in the comparison

If anyone is interested in reading it, it is available on JKP Software Development website. First half is the comparison - last half is of little interest to non-developers, I reckon.

But it can evolve in one more "Live" review of CMSes from selected class. Live - because with current Drupal (4.5.0 or .1) you can get slightly different imagination from your first attempt (I don't want and don't defence Drupal - I tried and, most probably, will drop it), for example...
PS - I read all (I suppose) comparision's sheets, but most times found these docs almost useless (except your project, Mith, which give me useful info, even when I stopped in XOOPS world)
