I have the hack done, I need a couple of days to do some testing. You can apply the 2.0.5 hack again after upgrading to 2.0.6 - the only page that will be broken is viewtopic.php

I will post here when I have uploaded the hack for 2.0.6 - probably this weekend...

This Hack worked for 2.0.5.2 but with the upgrade to 2.0.6 it doesn’t. Any new hack for this that will work in 2.0.6?
My private forums names can now be seen by everyone although they can’t view the posts, just the private forum names.

I really really need a fix. Please Please

I was able to access those features and make my choices. I have no idea though if they work because I couldn't bring up my forums after installing the hack. Maybe it is just me that didn't install it right. I could try again to see if I get the same errors again.

seems odd to me as well. I looked at 2.0.5.1 - the only file in newbb mod that is touched is the /include/forumforminc.php - this file is not part of the hack so it should work without fail.

were you able to get the preferences and the edit private forums forms to work in the admin interface??

I hope that you were not working on your live site. I went there this morning and had a good time reading through some of the posts and weblogs. Really a neat site.

Thanks Rich! No I was doing it on my magazine site but I backed up everything completely before doing it, so I was able to replace all the files I replaced with your hack with my back up copies.

I did do the update forum module in module admin. I don't mind the part about having to add the groups manually into MySQL I just don't know why I got an error accessing module page when I tried to view all forums (should have been able to see at least the public ones) and after I even added a group that could access one of the private forums, into the table bb_forum_group_access.

The code changes involved in this module include extensive mods to the SQL as well as the php code. You can upgrade in place but at the minimum you need to "update" the module.

The uninstall and install simply facilitates the creation of the new table (update does not do that).

There are edit private form form changes and new module preferences. I will look at 2.0.5.1 tomorrow and see what needs touched.
