The paths look okay. Mine is the same and works just fine.
Quote:
// Example: define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/home/gcollins/public_html/bridge');
define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/home/gcollins/public_html/bridge');

// XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)
// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://thomaschart.org/bridge');
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://thomaschart.org/bridge');

The user seems odd though and-databasefactory line #34 on mine is: trigger_error("Unable to connect to database", E_USER_ERROR);
which seems to be referring to the user name????

For site 1: (the thomaschart.org one)

Can you use phpmyadmin with the database of that site using the username and password which are in the mainfile.php?

Is in mainfile.php from site 2 the hostname also localhost?
Otherwise change the one in site 1 to the same as that used in the mainfile of number2.
The sites are two different entities and therefor have two different databases

Is the databasename really gcollins_xoop1? (again check with phpmyadmin
Yes, the user is "gcollins and the dbase name is xoop1
=====================================================

for site 2: (the fishy thing)

Can you still login?
(usinghttp://lifeinafishbowl.net/main/user.php)

At least from that page you get to see some other content.

If you can access the admin after logging in:
(usinghttp://lifeinafishbowl.net/main/admin.php)
Logging into url/main/admin.php leaves me with a blank page

- set theme back to XOOPS default theme
- deactivate news (do NOT uninstall)

See what happens.
I'm enjoying Xoops, but it doesn't come without heartache and customer complaints!

What about the first question:

Can you use phpmyadmin with the database of that site using the username and password which are in the mainfile.php?
Sorry, this signature is experiencing technical difficulties. We will return you to the sheduled signature as soon as possible ...

I looked but I can't find, what version of XOOPS are you using? I ask this because your mainfile.php is different from mine. I am using 2.0.14.
You said you used the backup from March and uploaded it, and the SQL file. What SQL file did you use?

Yes I can. But I'm not very good at dbase manipulation

Can you give us a rundown of your server specs?

Especially PHP(vers)

I couldn't Imagine 2.0.10 working with PHP5

Well, I suggest that you request your host to roll back the site.

Hi,

Yes, the user is "gcollins and the dbase name is xoop1

In your mainfile.php both database username and database name are the same - gcollins_xoop1

To make it clear - You changed hosts, so you used old back up of XOOPS version 2.0.10 and:

1. You uploaded backup database to new server.
2. You edited old mainfile.php to mach settings for the new host - new database user name and new database name if they are different, new virtual path - it may be different for the new host.
3. You uploaded all files from old backup to the new host.

Does your DNS records match the new host?
