Thanks for your replies .i have tried all but nothing seems working
I went to System Admin - Templates, click on list by System and none of the templates could was to be regenerated . I did notice the following file name
system_block_dummy.html
"Dummy template for custom blocks or blocks without templates"
And I clicked view and it is empty. Is there code that should be in this?

Twipsy20,
Did you clone the template set then use it as the default? You can't regenerate a thing until you do that. That's been mentioned in one form or another at least twice in this thread. Did you do that?

Okay. I suspect that you may have a corrupted file (as mentioned in #5 of the previous list. What I have in my system_block_dummy.html is the following:

Quote:
<{$block.content}>

You may want to reupload that file it's proper directory then try it.

Reupload the file. Did you try that? It's in your /modules/system/templates/blocks directory.

Try this:

Go to system admin/template manager/

Go to the now cloned and default template. See where it says system. Click on list. You should be taken to the list of templates for the system module. Delete the one that says "system_block_dummy.html". You will be asked to confirm the deletion. Say, yes.

The page will reload, with the system_block_dummy file highlighed in yellow. It will have a link to generate the file. Click on that link. It should create the file

Now, delete everything in the templates_c directory.

Your blocks should appear. Assuming that that was what your request was so long ago...

Re: block contents dont show after upgrade

I don't even get the basic blocks after my upgrade.

This is the 3rd time I have attempted an upgrade only to have it fail miserably.

At this point, I'm ready to quit Xoops.. who makes upgrades that can't be installed over the existing installation without losing everything ???

It has been my experience so far with XOOPS is never attempt to upgrade anything.. live with what you got or just erase the whole thing and start over.
