I don't have your module but I also had trouble getting changes to templates to take effect, until I realised that once you have cloned the default template (and set it as the one to use) then you need to change the template html within the XOOPS admin area (rather than using ftp). This seems to be the case even if "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" is set to YES.

Sorry if this is too simple (or wrong) but it might be worth trying.

well yes - I've deleted the templates_c files a hundred times and I've edited from both ftp and the admin templates editor!?

It's driving me bonkers - I can't see where the hell it's loading the date from!!

If I go into the ticked template - smartsection - recent_items block and edit the template it shows the file with the date references cut out - so why the hell is the date showing!

I've deleted the cache, templates_c files, sacrificed a newborn lamb, drenched myself in a virgin's blood and STILL it is not working...

Surely XOOPS can't be THIS hard! It's like it's possessed! Does anyone know of any other places that it could be pulling this date from?!

You won't see some module's template changes unless you temporarily turn on the default theme.

hmm good idea - i tried turning it on and viewing it - it still shows the date on the default - and then when i change it back - it stays showing the date!

Any other tests you know of Gestroud? I can post any bits of code or check any settings you require.

OK. So far you've

1. Changed the module's template correctly to reflect the desired change.

2. Cleared out templates_c

3. Set "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" to "Yes."

4. Turned on the default theme.

5. Updated the module in your site's admin area.

6. Gone to your site's home page and viewed it in the default theme.

7. Refreshed the page.

8. Given oblation to a diety of your choice from each of the major religions

and it still doesn't work? I've gotta take a look at the module.

heh I'd love to say I've missed something - but I've just gone AGAIN through your steps and STILL it doesn't change a thing!?

Oh by the way - oblations were just to major deities (as supported by Microsoft Religion) - I didn't bother with any Aztec Sun Gods - I believe you don't need to with XOOPS 2.2+?

What template set are you using in the Admin Preference-->General Settings section? Is it set to "default" in the drop-down menu? Or are you using a clone or a replacement?

I'm using a slight mod of the cleanblue template - although I've tried it with the default XOOPS one and it still doesn't work.

Also I've done similar modifications of the News 1.44 mod and one other and they worked great - so I'm not sure if it could be the template?

oh and I'm using a cloned template - if I wasn't clear above - I've tried recloning it too...

ACK! I only used a cloned template once and didn't have much luck with the results, so I've kind of left them alone.

I have a feeling that that's probably the difficulty. Another thought is: What cache times have you set for the module and its blocks?
