Now I'm really confused.
I'm building a new Dutch website with XOOPS 2.0.13.1. As always it just turns up nice. Using the standard news module that comes with XOOPS there is one thing I am not able to establish: the news post date month formatting in Dutch:

I'm using the dutch language files and already have adjusted the global.php as descripted in de XOOPS faq.

I have adjusted the global.php so it shows the month name in the post date (eg September etc) but it only shows up in English and not in dutch. The strange part is that when visiting the archive.php of the news module, the month is spelled in Dutch!?!

My question: How do I get the right month language (dutch) in the news articles?

Thanks in advance,

Nobody have a clue? Is my question clear? Are their people who succesfully converted their month names in the standard news module?

After a chat with Michael he figured out that the dates were generated by smarty and not by php directly. We both are no programmers (well Michael used to be a long time ago) so we are not able to convert this somehow. Is there somewhere anyone who has succesfully converted this? Most people may think "use the 20/10/2005 format instead!", but from a designers point of view this is not an option.

thank you in advanced.

Maybe the following Smarty information about dates can help you: http://smarty.php.net/manual/en/language.modifier.date.format.php

http://smarty.php.net/manual/en/tips.dates.php

http://smarty.php.net/manual/en/language.function.html.select.date.php

This does not change the language used for the date of course.

I did a little of research. Here is the results :

- I can reproduce the exact same behavior in the News module locally, so it is not "site-related"

- I can reproduce the exact thing with SmartSection, so it is not News related

- I can reproduce the exact same thing with the French language, so the problem is not the language pack.

Can anyone else confirm this to me ?

I also did an echo $someDate and it displayed the month incorrectly, always in english, whatever the language used (french, nederland), so to my knowledge, it is not Smarty related.

Anyone else can help us ?

Cheers!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has this 'problem'. Marcan, thank you for taking this seriously and for the time you already have spend on this issue. We know where to find me.

Is their any progress on this? I know I'm really nagging about this 'small for some' glitch, but I really want to know what I can do to make this work.
