Hi ,

Is there a module for downloads where by the end users can just upload files to the server rather than provide "download url" for the downloads. And also i am trying to use WF-Downloads , but the display of the download section comes way down after the menu has been displayed..

How can i adjust this?

Should i create an ftp site to server all the uploaded files for download? When i try to download from the url
http://www.site.com/uploads/text1.doc , i get the following error:

Internet Explorer cannot download from http://www.site.com/
Internet Explorer was unable to open this site.

Has any one come across the same problems?

Thanks
Ann

I was going to have a look at your demo site, to see what was wrong, but I was faced by this screen:

Quote:

Sorry, you don't have the permission to perform this action.
Please register or login first!

If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

Sorry I could be of assistance, on this occassion, but I'm not going to register.

Hi Tim,

Sorry about that..I was not able to give anonymous users the right to access the submit page, even though i had given full module access permissions for anonymous users for the WFDownloads module.

Did you give 'anon users' rights to submit articles in the module prefs?

Hi every one,

Finally figured how to get the upload field with browse button..

When i tried uploading any file, i get an error like this:

Errors Returned While Uploading
MIME type not allowed: text/plain

If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

and my server status is

Server Status
Information taken from PHP ini File:
GD Library Support: Disabled (No Thumb Nails Available)
Safe Mode Status: OFF
Register Globals: ON
Server Uploads Status: ON
Max Upload Size Permitted: 2M
Max Post Size Permitted: 8M

Can some one point out what i am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Ann

Go into XOOPS administration

- wf-downloads
- Mimetype Management

At the end of the page you will get a list of the fileextensions that have been setup yet.

- find the entry for your filetype and click the edit button at the end of the line.
- you will get a form that will have a field for mimetypes which might contain already one or more mimetypes.
- now add the one you got in the error message e.g. text/plain into this field. Just with one empty space behind the last one found in there.
- then submit and you should be able to upload your file next time.

And basicly you are doing absolutely nothing wrong ... there are tons of mimetypes out there and it happens over and over that the wrong ones get used with a file.

Thank you so much Bender..I am eternally grateful!!

I can upload fine now..But while trying to download a doc, it goes to the page "Download in Progress" And after 3 seconds an Internet Explore message box appears saying the following..

Internet Explorer cannot open test.doc from http://www.test.com

Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

But if I click on the "Click here" link and do "save target as", I can download it just fine..

But if it is an image(.jpeg) file or text(.txt) file, it doesn't download but opens the text or jpeg file in the Internet Explorer.

Once again if I click on the "Click here" link and do "save target as", I can download it fine..

Does this have to do with some php setting or am i missing something again?

Thank u ever so much,
Ann

HavenĀ“t seen this reported until now.

I wanted to take a look but registration ('testing') failed because your site could not send the email.

Does this happen with other browsers too?

Hey Bender,

Appreciate u taking so much time..

I got an email saying new user "testing" has registered. I just had to activate you..You should be able to log in now.

But you don't have to login at all..Go the the Demosite
-> letter "T" in the listing.

I tried using Mozilla..it worked fine..So only IE is the problem
