Firstly I'd like to say that from what I've just read XOOPS looks great. Smarty is definately the way to go for templating. It's a shame more projects don't use it.

What I'm planning is a set of sites which are either based around a location or a topic. What I want to be able to do is share users and content in these sites. I belive that users is faily straight forward (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm not sure about the conent.

An example of what I want to do :-

Several sites with location areas that will have all sorts of info on them. Eg. a site for London, Manchester, Birmingham.

Several topic based sites such as football, cricket, rugby.

On the london site I'll want all the information about football, cricket and rugby which is relevant to London. I'll also want any general news on these topics.

On the football site I'll just want all the news from all citys about football.

Is this kind of thing possible? If not would it be hard for me to hack it? (by putting an extra location field into the database maybe ???) I read somewhere that the subsite functionality is being put into XOOPS core. Will this help me?

I'd also like to do a similar thing for a directory.


Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
