Can't login after install

Installation on Mac OS 10.2.8 went very well with few hangups, but now there's a problem logging in. My admin account doesn't work, nor does any user account I enter. New accounts are accepted, but logins are rejected with bad password message.

I'm running php 4.3.4, with MySQL version 4.0.20. This is just a test localhost install

Maybe cookies related? Try the WIKI (last section on MacOS)

Thanks, but that doesn't appear to be the problem. I've tried Safari, Netscape, and IE with exactly the same results. I have no difficulty using this site.

One additional issue: when I try add other users, the server tries to email the confirmation code. Of course, this machine doesn't run its own mail server. Could that be a problem for the admin account?

WIKI's trouble-shooting page on blankpage has a section on enabling error reporting by editing common.php file, you may want to take a look, enable it and see what errors you are getting.
