Question about databases!

I have 5 databases. I already have 3 being used. I have a question. Can I use more than one php program for the same database? or does every script have to have its own database? for example. I have a mailisting and a database backup script on 2 different Databases. Did I have to do that or could I have used one database for both?

yes you can use same data base, as the table prefixs are all different its okay to do so.

this is a good topic for debate. i did see a post where soneone asked if it would affect speed if you used one large db or if a number of small db(s)would be faster. i believe mithrandir reckoned it would be minimal if any difference at all, but now i am curious.
