How can a module be removed from Xoops?

How can a module be completely removed from Xoops? In addition to removing the module directory and its associated tables, what else needs to removed/changed?

You should ALWAYS deactivate the module in system admin -> modules, then uninstall it and THEN you can remove the module directory.

Eureka!!! This is not intuitively obvious, at least not to me, 1st deactivate the module. Once this is complete then the "remove" icon is displayed. Last, select the "remove" icon to remove the module. Found it by wading through the code....
