My lovely little blank page problem

I ran the installation, everything worked out just fine. But I have a blank page when trying to access the XOOPS directory.
I turned debugging on and the error is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: () in [host path]/class/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1658


which is:

Quote:
$_source_return = $resource_func($resource_name, $template_source, $this);



When I try to access the admin.php, it tells me I do not have access.


Php version: 4.3.4
Apache version: 1.3.29
MySQL version: 3.23.49

Did you try http://www.yoursite.com/user.php to login?

I take it that this is a new till now unmodified installation?

If so i would download the XOOPS 2.0.6 archive again, delete the site, reupload from the new downloaded archive and try again.

user.php gives me the same error as index.php.

I'll try redownloading and reinstalling now.
