I just got this piece of free software from IBM's page (can't remember the link) that will tell you exactly how long your site (Xoops or other) takes to load. It breaks it down by images, text, etc.
Very Handy.
If anyone else is interested i'll try to dig up where I got it.

You're right. It is a great tool that I think is an essential addition to all webmasters toolboxes. I know of no other freeware tool which breaks down the loading timeline of your site into such detail. I've been using it for quite some time, and highlt recommend downloading it from the alphaworks site over at IBM.
