After being offline for almost 2 weeks I have suddenly realized that I can never take a vacation in my life. I feel like I've missed tons of stuff on the message board I visit alot, missed different stuff at bbpixel, and missed a bunch of stuff here at xoops.org...

"But why Dave? Why were you offline for so long!?" asks many muppets in bikinis.

My pc was screwed up. I had my previous machine set up to be a linux box and was setting up my new one to be my windows xp box. However, the new one is completely screwed up. Something is preventing me from loading xp correctly. My new processor was supposed to be a 2400+ and it turned out to be an 1800+, which I didn't notice until after I had opened it and installed it, seeing it flash up on the boot screen. Since it took me 30 minutes just to get the stupid fan on, I decided that I'd just take it's word for it and not bother looking at the chip to check. Also, I can't get my Seagate 200 gig drive to read all of its space. Fun times I tell you. *stabs computer with jelly sandwich*

Are you sure it says 1800+ and not just 1800 MHz? I had my comp say 1200 MHz until I set the FSB speed to 133 MHz - then it picked up the real info and said 1900+

Welcome back, though

Is you're 200GB an ATA-133 drive? If so does your motherboard have ATA-133 support? If it is only seeing about 137GB ofthe drive this may well be the issue.

Thanks. It was the FSB setting actually. It turned out that it wasn't set right. It was set to 100mhz and was supposed to be set too 133. Now I'm getting the correct reading. 2400+, at 2 ghz.

Ok, you board is ATA-100, what about the drive? If it is ATA-133 you will need to buy a PCI ATA-133 controller card if you ever want to be able to see anything over the 137GB mark as this is the limit of what the ATA-100 bus can address.

The drive is ATA-100. Even if I have to partition it in half, it wouldn't bother me. I'd just like to get the 200 gigs out of it.
