I have visited dev.xoops.org and downloaded the latest development version of NewBB. I know that you guys are revamping it and I am looking forward to the next official or even a beta release. The only thing I could not get info on was the development schedule or about how long until a beta is released. Can someone clue us all in on how long we may be waiting? I understand that its completly volunteer and I am not try to say, I want it now and deserve it. I am just looking to start a new website and want to wait until the new version of NewBB comes out. If its going to be a while I may just hack the crap out of the current NewBB and hope that I never have to do a serious upgrade...

Personally I would just go ahead and use the standard NewBB included with Xoops. Predator's steroid feed version of NewBB will replace it, and therefore I'd imaging there will be upgrade scripts for those using the standard NewBB (please correct me if I'm wrong here). In short, don't suspend the development of your site in anticipation of an upcoming module as there is no way of knowing how/if this is going ot pan out.

Lets put this another way

The development of the NewBB is basically open source, rather than hacking it out maybe you could join in with the development process?

Module Development website

Go there sign up and speak to Predator regarding this

Well I have about one week of experience with Xoops2 and I love it but still am very unfamiliar with the API. I plan on developing my own module to learn more about it and then I might just try and help out with the NewBB module, I would like to see it become a good competitor amongst vB, phpBB2 and IPB.
