Blank screen after installing Xoops 2.0.6

I did a fresh install of XOOPS 2.0.6
The installation itself went very smoothly.
Only green signs, database connection successfull,tables created successfully.

When i tried to open the main webpage www..org/index.php i only get a blank screen.

Does anybody know where i have to look to find the problem.

I use PHP 4.2.4
Mysql 4.0.18
GD and Zlib Library installed and working fine.
Running on a Netware 6 SP4 Server

I have maybe some aditional information

I cleared all files from the template_c dir. except index.html file when i then try to open the main page i get the following message(s) on my screen.
Warning [PHP]: chmod failed: No such file or directory in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 2062
Warning [PHP]: chmod failed: No such file or directory in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 2062

I checked the file permissions and to be sure i have removed for all files the Readonly attrib ...

Still have't yet a clue ???

Did you chmod 777
cache, uploads, templates_c
directories?

It seems that XOOPS is not enable to write to templates_c directory. Make sure you got the right permission.

I checked all permissions and as far as i can see all is correct.
When i remove all files from the template_c dir as i discribed earlier and start the main page , 6 files are again created in the template_c dir.
3 files are of the current time/date 2kb and 6kb of size.
the other 3 files are html files with 0 bytes of size...
2 files with the installation date and on with the date : 3/1/2003

I am trying to get it working on a novell netware 6 SP4 server , with apache 2.0.49 , apache 2.4.2 and MySQL version 4.0.16 (as i look via phpinfo)

hope you still have a clue ?
