Problem getting in to the administration menu

I have just installed XOOPS 2.0.5.2 and can't get into the administration menu without being redirected back to the first time use of admin panel.

is there anyway to fix this?

the adminmenu.php file is not being created in the cache option even if it is set to writable.

The site has been added to all of the allow lists in zonealarm pro.

but there is still no change.

I am having the same problem regardless of whether my firewall is enable/disabled, and regardless of how I have cookies set. I installed w/ Fantastico. I wonder if there is a bum copy in Fantastico??

Anybody have any other ideas?

The cache folder is writable.

Could you try completely disabling your software firewall?

Also see if there are files in the cache folder, which are not writable by the server.

I have had some trouble, where it gave that message, and I just couldn't get the files and folder permissions to work properly. I think I just persisted in changing permissions to writable for both cache folder and any files within that folder.

the only file inside the cache folder is the index.html and that is set for writable and I have also tried it without the firewall started up with no change.
