I'm having problem posting long article (more than 6 pages long in MS Word) in News module: the posted articles are incompleted.

Is there limited in length of documents that can be posted in News module?

Hello vnn333 and welcome to XOOPS forums

I am not aware of a file size restriction for this module. However your server may have a file size limit that you may be exceeding, especially if you are posting graphics as well as text. Having said that, I found a text restriction limit on another module WFsections that was not related to the file size. I posted 80,000 words of plain text with no graphics, it weighed in at about 300kb but still cut off when uploaded. There maybe a global character limit for the XOOPS system, Im not certain. Perhaps other can comment?

The articles are in Vietnamese language & in Unicode format.
I don't think my server have file size limit because I can upload more than 50MB file via FTP.
So, how did you work around your problem.

I changed the data type from text to medium text in a couple fields to accomodate longer articles. Have a look at this thread:

I changed the bodytext field to mediumtext in xoops_stories for the News module, and the maintext field in xoops_wfs_article to mediumtext in WFSection. Seems to work just fine.
