Meta's wish list.

1. Being able to specify which kinds of users can create initial reviews and add on their own reviews. (ie: so that registered users can click an "Add your own review" button.

Not as important are these:

2. Being able to specify statistics in customizable text boxes.

3. Being able to add a small picture to the review.

4. Having the first review on an item being featured, and having all subsequent reviews on that item available under a "See more reviews" button.

Thanks again so much! While all these things would be nice, simply a functional review mod will be a vast improvement!

Any word on the mod? I would be overjoyed to test whatever barebones mod you've already created.

Hi Riaan!

I've got a open domain--actually it was registered for a... can ya guess? Review Site!!!

I can put your beta on a clean install of XOOPS 2.0.6 and try to break it if you want.

If you require further information, you can contact me via email

>> dgamber@pictusdesign.com

My benchmark site I'm going after is http://www.kicksology.net/ , except I'll have 5 or 6 part-time reviewers contributing to the site (no... not for basketball shoes).

If I can help make the module better, let me know.

Hi Dan, I am just finishing some minor things with the review module and will try and put the beta on my site by tomorrow, I will definately contact you to test it. As per request of my inhouse testers I have changed the core of the module to be able to have different review categories for every category in the tree. I have also added a submit functionality other than just having the admin submit everything, this is of course a admin setting. I added a download section to my site to help in the distribution of the module.

Sounds great Riaan.

Hopefully you tied the submit functionality back into the XOOPS Groups, as I will allow comments from members, but only 'editors' will be allowed to post reviews. Or am I missing something?

I'll check your site for the download later on.

Hi All, I have made the first Beta available due to huge pressure from some review fannatics (no names ) It is available on my website under the download section : http://www.craftsonline.co.za/

Please do not start using beta software on your commercial site, this is only for testing. If there is any additional functionality you would like to see please let me know.

Hi Meta1,

Could you explain what you want in the statistics part or the reviews, I am having a blond moment.

Well when a mod initially adds a review they would be able to sepcify certain statistics about a product. Like:

Height:
Weight:
Etc:

These would be like individual review categories but could only be set and input by the mods. (Users wouldn't be able to change them).

I guess it could easily be done within the description, just a bell/whistle, so not that important.

Riaanvdb,
I'm a little confused by this note in your beta notation: "Note: After users have entered data, you should not change the configuration of the reviews categories, number of reviews categories, number for the overall review and name of reviews categories because this will unlink the names from the data."

"...you should not change the configuration of the reviews categories..."
Does this mean after we open up the Reviews Module to our users, we can't add or modify categories? What about changing the categories name?

"...number of reviews categories,..."
Does this refer to the quantity of categories or some kind of marker number stored in the database?

"...number for the overall review..."
So as an admin we can't go back and modify the overall rating for a review, right? Fair enough.

"...and name of reviews categories because this will unlink the names from the data."
So what if we're rating something that's name might change? I mean chances are we're more likely to have mispelled the category, then for the name to need changing. But then again, what if we are reviewing something where the name does change? And we need to change the name of a category?

And what about a review object's name, can we change that after it has voted upon?
