Alright, I'm a newb to xoops, but it's awesome so far. My only current question is if there is a way for me to use a sessione variable or something to automatically log out a user when they leave the page. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Also, I have the customer session enabled and set to 5 minutes, but it never logs your out. I can leave the site for half an hour and go back without logging out.

As a clarification, I am looking for a way to log out any user who leaves the site to go to another site, even if only for a minute (Like an online banking site would). Is this possible? Any suggestions in what route I should take?

The session timeout should work; I don't know why it isn't.

But there's really no way of knowing when someone "leaves" a site or a page.

Most people complain that users are logged out too often

But still - if custom session doesn't break your site, it should do what you ask of it.
